Is the AIDS pandemic a result of Globalisation?

Tanzania is very much affected by HIV/AIDS pandemic and alt least 7% of the population or roughly 2 million Tanzanian are at present living with HIV/AIDS disease. Some researchers assume that the spread of AIDS is associated with globalisation since Tanzania has increased trade and travel (tourists), including migrant (refugees) and labour (workers from Kenya, Uganda etc).

Life expectancy is also associated to globalisation as well as the deterioration of Tanzania’s health services. The life expectancy in Tanzania has decreased from 67-76 years before globalisation to the present 30- 60 years due to AIDS pandemic.

However, globalisation in Tanzania might have helped the primary and secondary education as well as the mining industry. Although it has a very negative effect in our forests since we are noticing deforestation in Rufiji and Tanga forests.

Considering the whole world, globalisation in most developing countries has been associated with diminished progress.
