Local performers were hired to go through the streets of Mtambani B, in Dar es Salaam, inviting community members to an initial meeting with the PPA Research Team. They succeeded in drawing a crowd of nearly three hundred people!

Music, dance and shared learning in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam...

Nearly 300 children, women and men learnt about  the nature and purpose of the participatory research process through a dramatic (and frequently funny) introductory video. 

A community member passionately explains that, in the past, researchers have come to his neighborhood asking interesting questions but refusing to share the results.  If the PPA plans to do the same, he warns, they should leave now.

The next generation of Tanzanians listens to an explanation of the PPA process (or is she watching a bird?).
